Responsible for creating the necessary look as designed by the Director(s), VFX Supervisor, and Production Designer(s) within the schedule parameters for a particular sequence.

Responsible for managing the complexity and renders of assigned characters and sequences.

Demonstrate a mastery of the toolset, techniques, and workflow for Lighting to be able to effectively supervise the lighting team technically and artistically.

May be required to do hands on development and/or shot work.

In collaboration with the VFX Supervisor and other CG Supervisors on the show, ensure and enforce a consistent workflow is maintained between all lighting teams.

Responsible for final delivery of shots to film and ensures final tech check for assigned sequences. Flags VFX Supervisor when needed as cross departmental dependencies arise.

Participate in launches and approval meetings by clarifying direction and creative goals and ensures that technical and schedule requirements are met.

Offer suggestions and alternatives during dailies or other creative reviews that may help the Director(s), VFX Supervisor and Production Designer(s) achieve the desired vision within the 3D production process.

Provide input during visual development/design phase.

Partner with Production Management and VFX Supervisor to ensure that requests from Directors are prioritized and provide solutions that can be accomplished within the production schedule.

Highlight cost implications of requests or changes.

Present shots in daily walkthroughs to VFX Supervisor and Production Designer or to Directors in dailies. Ensure creative direction from VFX Supervisor and Directors to the crew are heard and clarified.

Troubleshoot creative and technical issues as they arise. Provide hands-on approach in assisting the Lighters. Has joint responsibility with other CG Supervisors in managing the Lighting department.

Help to maintain the directory structure, naming conventions and files.

Proactively maintain a consistent working methodology by actively sharing tips and tricks between shows, partnering with other CG Supervisors and staying current on other shows’ development and initiative while staying abreast of the various tools.

Interact with other departments to ensure other elements work within the sequence and that continuity is preserved across all sequences.

Supervise Paint Fix for their sequences.

Appropriately elevate issues and solutions to Production Management effectively.

Work closely with the Production Supervisor in the management of the department and to create the schedule and ensure quotas/deadlines are met for both shots and sequences.

Work with the Production Supervisor on casting shots/assignments within the sequence to Lighters.

Responsible for improving the performance of artists on the team. Mentor artists to provide guidance, experience and insight. Involved in trying to resolve performance related issues.

Responsible with Production Supervisor for maintaining crew morale. Foster good working atmosphere and ethics.

Deliver reviews with Production Supervisor to crew members; help manage career growth of staff; provide recommendations for promotions.

Work with management in the casting and staffing of talent on the show.

Help with recruiting and perform interviews. Ensure that Lighting new hires are provided the necessary training.

Responsible for participation in the unification and initiatives for the studio.

Facilitate meetings with artists to keep the crew informed on show changes and requirements.

Ensure open lines of communication with other departments and department heads.
